A solar panel is a device that absorbs the rays from the sun and converts them into electricity. It is a collection of solar cells. These solar cells are used to generate electricity through the photovoltaic effect. The cells are arranged in a pattern on the surface of the solar panels.
Types of Solar Panel
Solar panels can be varied with energy efficiency levels, installation costs, and different capabilities. The following are the types of solar panels which are explained below.
Solar Roof Shingles:
These types of solar panels are configured as a roof shingle which is attached to a conventional asphalt type shingle roof. These solar shingles are durable as regular asphalt shingles and protect your roof and home effectively. It produces electricity of up to 13 to 67 watts of solar energy. It can also withstand any weather conditions.
Polycrystalline Solar Panels:
Polycrystalline cells can be recognized within a solar panel for their rectangular shape, which is created when the silicon is melted and poured into a mold. These polycrystalline cells are not as heat-tolerant or efficient as monocrystalline cells. These do not generate as much electricity from the sun.
Monocrystalline Solar Panels:
Monocrystalline cells are able to achieve higher levels of efficiency because they are made of pure silicon. It is of cylindrical shape and also helps to achieve higher efficiency. It is important to find the sun score when choosing between the polycrystalline and monocrystalline panels. These panels are more expensive than polycrystalline solar panel types. Monocrystalline solar panels are last longer and come with long warranties. It can be installed on the roof with the help of installing solar panel mounts.
Thin Film Solar Panels:
Thin-film solar panels are a newer type of solar panel and are very less frequent for home use. As same as the name of the panel, layers of semiconductor materials such as silicon, cadmium telluride, and copper indium gallium selenide are used as a film on the surface. These are less efficient than crystalline solar panels and require a large roof space. This type of panel is less expensive and more flexible than other types.
LiPower outdoor solar folding products are having high efficiency and it is more portable. These solar panels are having energy conversion efficiency that is 60% higher than the traditional silicon solar panels. It is installed on each controller on a folding panel, PWN or MPPT. These are having high-strength fixed frame and bracket, which is having waterproof and anti UV protection and provides long-lasting life.
Conclusion:
Solar energy from the sun is a very clean, pollution-free, and renewable source of energy. This conversion of solar energy into electrical energy has been used in various applications nowadays. From the above, you can get an idea about the solar panel types and be wise in selecting the correct one for yourself.
